Insightful
I had never studied Alice in Wonderland before…Jesse‘s prompts were thought-provoking and insightful. They provided lots of opportunities for introspection and inspiration. Paired with the gorgeous imagery from her collage paper, I was able to create fun and beautiful spreads in my journal.
Encouraging
I never considered myself an artist until I stumbled into one of Jesse's workshops while accompanying a friend. Since then, I've attended two more and each workshop is a wonderful experience, providing a special opportunity to create a unique art journal with my own hands. Jesse sets the stage with her amazing themes and projects, then adds in extra credit for the fast workers in the group. She always provides time to write and to explore life's ups and downs. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and she encourages us to step out of our comfort zone. Jesse creates a safe space for the class to be thoughtful, creative, and encouraging to each other. She has a gift for nurturing creativity in others. I am grateful for the laughter, inspiration, and connections I’ve experienced in her classes.
Exploration
Doing art with Jesse is never just a project, it is an exploration. Each video or class is a dialogue where she invites you to play, create and learn more about yourself. The prompts in Curiouser and Curiouser each invited me to consider questions about what I wanted, what I needed and who I was at that moment. Each page of my finished journal tells a story of me. And like Alice, I fell into a rabbit hole and when I came out the other side I had learned more about myself.
